Guide from the official docs

Siri AI not available? Devices, regions and the waitlist

Why Try Siri AI (Beta) is missing or stuck: supported devices, language and region rules, the EU exception on Mac and Vision Pro, and the waitlist.

By AideDex desk · published

This guide follows the official docs and announcements, linked inline. AideDex did not test these products and does not score them. How we check facts.

Last checked Oct 23, 2026. Everything below comes from Apple Support pages and Apple Newsroom, linked inline. AideDex has no access to Apple’s waitlist data, so we can’t tell you your place in the queue. What we can do is help you rule out the documented reasons Siri AI doesn’t show up or doesn’t turn on.

Status, platforms and the regions Apple excludes are on the Siri AI agent page.

The quick checklist

Siri AI needs all of these to be true. Items 1 to 3 are listed as requirements on Apple’s support page (Apple Support); items 4 and 5 come from Apple’s waitlist step and Apple’s age note:

  1. A supported device running the 27 releases (list below).
  2. Device language and Siri language set to the same supported language. For now that means English. Apple says “Siri AI is currently available in English” (Apple Support).
  3. An Apple Account in an eligible region. Apple names two exceptions: the EU on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and mainland China (Apple Support).
  4. You have joined the waitlist and your turn has come. Turning it on adds you to a waitlist (Apple Support).
  5. You are 13 or older. Apple says Siri AI is not available for users under 13 (Apple Newsroom).

Supported devices and software

Per Apple Support, Siri AI runs on:

DeviceSoftwareModels
iPhoneiOS 27iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone Duo, iPhone Air
iPadiPadOS 27iPad mini (A17 Pro), iPad models with M1 or later
MacmacOS 27 Golden GateMacBook Neo (A18 Pro), Mac with M1 or later
Apple WatchwatchOS 27Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, SE 3, paired with an Apple Intelligence iPhone that has Siri AI turned on
Apple Vision ProvisionOS 27Any Apple Vision Pro

If your model is not in this table, the Try Siri AI (Beta) option is not expected to appear. The standard iPhone 15 and older iPhones are not on Apple’s list (Apple Support).

Apple Intelligence also needs free storage: up to 14 GB on iPhone Duo, iPhone 17 Pro models and later, iPhone Air, iPad models with M4 and later and Mac models with M3 and later (both with at least 12GB of unified memory), and Apple Vision Pro (M5). Other supported iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro models need up to 8 GB, and Apple Watch needs up to 1.5 GB (Apple Support).

Turn it on (and join the waitlist)

After you update, go to Settings > Siri > Try Siri AI (Beta). If Siri is off, tap Turn On Siri first (Apple Support). The iPhone User Guide gives the same steps and notes that usage limits may apply (iPhone User Guide). On some software versions, Siri settings live under Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri instead (Apple Support).

Then follow the prompts to pick a voice, enroll your voice and review privacy settings. Apple says this “will add you to a waitlist, and wait times can vary,” and that Siri AI “will begin to download automatically when your wait is complete” (Apple Support). Apple does not publish how long the wait is.

Language: the most common mismatch

Siri AI needs the device language and the Siri language to match, and both to be supported (Apple Support). Apple’s Siri language page says Siri AI (Beta) “is currently available only in English” (Apple Support).

When Siri AI launched on Sep 14, 2026, Apple said it would add French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish “next month” (Apple Newsroom). On Oct 23, 2026, Apple’s support pages still list English only.

Changing the Siri language can make Apple Intelligence unavailable for a while. Apple says that if you change the Siri language, Apple Intelligence “might become unavailable until the new Siri language fully downloads and matches the device language” (Apple Support). Device language is under Settings > General > Language & Region (Apple Support), and Siri language is under Settings > Siri > Language (Apple Support).

Regions: EU and mainland China

European Union

Siri AI is not available on iOS, iPadOS or watchOS in the EU. It is available on macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device and Siri language are both English (Apple Support). At launch Apple said it is “working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security” (Apple Newsroom).

Other next-generation Apple Intelligence features, such as advanced photo editing, the reimagined Image Playground and intelligent features for browsing, are available to EU users on supported iPhone and iPad models, on Mac with macOS 27 Golden Gate, and on Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27 (Apple Support). So Apple Intelligence features can appear on an EU iPhone while Siri AI does not.

Country pages: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland.

Mainland China

Siri AI “will not currently work” if your Apple Account region is in mainland China (Apple Support). Apple said new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while it works through regulatory requirements (Apple Newsroom).

Everywhere else

Apple does not publish a country list. It says “availability varies by region and platform” (Apple Support). Eligibility depends on your Apple Account region. After you turn Siri AI on, Apple says it keeps working when you travel to other regions (Apple Support).

Changing your Apple Account region has prerequisites. Apple says you must first spend any remaining balance and cancel subscriptions that block the change. You might need a valid payment method for the new country or region, and if you are in a Family Sharing group, you might not be able to change your region (Apple Support).

It turned on, but something is missing

  • No expressive voices. Expressive voices need the AFM Core Advanced on-device model. That model runs on iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro models and later, iPhone Duo, iPad (M4) or later and Mac (M3) or later with at least 12GB of unified memory, and Apple Vision Pro (M5) (Apple Support). Apple’s pages list expressive voices only for these devices.
  • Apple Watch shows nothing. The watch needs a paired Apple Intelligence iPhone with Siri AI turned on (Apple Support).
  • It stopped answering for the day. Siri AI is subject to daily usage limits that “may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand” and other factors (Apple Support).

FAQ

Why don’t I see “Try Siri AI (Beta)” in Settings?

Check four things Apple lists: a supported device on the 27 software, device and Siri language set to the same supported language (English for now), an Apple Account region that is eligible, and Siri turned on first (Apple Support). In the EU, the option is only expected on Mac and Apple Vision Pro, and only if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device and Siri language are both English (Apple Support).

How long is the Siri AI waitlist?

Apple doesn’t give a number. It says turning on Siri AI adds you to a waitlist, “wait times can vary,” and Siri AI downloads automatically when your wait is complete (Apple Support).

Is Siri AI available on iPhone 15 or iPhone 14?

The iPhone list is iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone Duo and iPhone Air (Apple Support). The standard iPhone 15 and the iPhone 14 are not on it.

Can I use Siri AI in the EU?

On a Mac with macOS 27 Golden Gate or on Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27, yes, if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device and Siri language are both English. Not on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch (Apple Support).

Is Siri AI available in the UK or India?

Apple’s support page names only two regional exceptions, the EU (on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch) and mainland China. It does not publish a full country list and says availability varies by region and platform (Apple Support). See the UK and India pages for what we track.

Is Siri AI free?

It comes with the 27 software releases on supported devices. Server-based features, Siri AI included, have daily usage limits, and Apple says “expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future” (Apple Support).
