| Fact | Copilot Actions on Windows | Eney |
|---|---|---|
| Data it can access | Copilot Actions on Windows: When the admin-only "Experimental agentic features" setting is on, agents can get read and write access to Documents, Downloads, Desktop, Music, Pictures and Videos, plus folders all authenticated users can reach and apps installed for all users. Per agent, set Files to Allow Always, Ask every time or Never allow (Settings > System > AI Components > Agents); turning the setting off removes folder access. support.microsoft.com · checked | Eney: With macOS permission Eney reads Apple Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Contacts and your files; connected services (Gmail, Drive, Slack, Notion and others) can be read, created, edited, deleted or sent to on your behalf. Access tokens are stored on MacPaw servers. Withdraw permissions in Settings or disconnect a service. macpaw.com · checked |
| Asks before sensitive actions | Copilot Actions on Windows: Yes Microsoft’s stated principle: "Users approve all queries for user data as well as actions taken." By default Windows asks for consent when an agent requests files in the known folders. support.microsoft.com · checked | Eney: Yes "By default, Eney asks before it sends a message, changes an event or moves a file." Read-only actions do not ask again, and you can allow actions for a chat or for everything in Settings (privacy notice). macpaw.com · checked |
| Sees your passwords | Copilot Actions on Windows: Not stated | Eney: Not stated |
| Trains on your data | Copilot Actions on Windows: Not clearly stated Copilot lets you "opt out of using your conversation activity for model training"; no Copilot Actions-specific training statement found. support.microsoft.com · checked | Eney: Not clearly stated The privacy notice says MacPaw does not use your personal data to train third-party AI models and training is switched off with its AI providers. It does not say whether MacPaw's own AI stack is trained on your data, and usage analytics that include request text may be kept up to 5 years to improve Eney. macpaw.com · checked |
| Isolation | Copilot Actions on Windows: Agent workspace: a separate Windows session with its own agent account (distinct from yours) and scoped folder access; lighter than a full VM such as Windows Sandbox. support.microsoft.com · checked | Eney: Runs on your Mac: reading files, running commands and searching happen locally through Eney's built-in tools, and memories are stored in a local database. Text requests are processed in the cloud by OpenAI or Anthropic models (no local model); image generation goes to Google, meeting audio to ElevenLabs and Read Aloud to Respeecher. macpaw.com · checked |
| Retention | Copilot Actions on Windows: Microsoft Copilot stores conversation activity for 18 months by default. You can delete individual chats from the Chats list (...More > Delete) or your whole activity history from the privacy dashboard, and delete saved memories in Settings > Personalization > Manage > Delete all memories. support.microsoft.com · checked | Eney: Synced chats stay on MacPaw servers while your account is active (encrypted, not end-to-end); a deleted chat is hidden and permanently removed when you request data deletion. AI providers keep requests up to 30 days. Usage logs are kept up to 90 days; usage analytics, which include request text, up to 5 years. Memories and meeting notes stay on your device until you delete them. macpaw.com · checked |
